History of the Shelby GT500

The Shelby GT500 is a high-performance variant of the Ford Mustang. It was first introduced in 1967 and has been produced intermittently ever since. The Shelby GT500 is powered by a large V8 engine and features unique styling cues that set it apart from other Mustangs. Throughout its history, the Shelby GT500 has been one of the most sought-after performance cars on the market and is considered a true classic by many enthusiasts. Following the introduction of the Mustang in 1964, the Mustang was powered by a Police Interceptor but shortly after was replaced with a 428 CobraJet with a Holly 4-barrel carburetor. The 1967 Shelby GT500 also had a starring role as Elenore in the Nicolas Cage movie Gone in 60 Seconds back in 2000.

The 1967 Shelby GT500 was the first year for the model and featured a white with blue stripes paint scheme. The 1968 GT500 featured a similar paint scheme but with blue stripes on a white body. The 1969 GT500 featured a black with gold stripes paint scheme, while the 1970 Shelby GT500 featured a white with blue stripes paint scheme.

The Shelby was somewhat discontinued after the 1970 model year, but the classic body styles were revived around 2010 to 2015. This actually sparked a lot of other classic sports car models, including the Charger and Challenger. Today you can find a wide variety of Ford Mustangs that still live on in beautiful condition. Whether you are a classic fan or a modern fan, there is truly something for every Ford Mustang enthusiast.
