The Honda Ridgeline debuted in 2005 for the 2006 model year and is currently Honda's only pickup truck still being manufactured. According to the automaker, Honda used the Ridgeline to target potential customers who wanted to transition from sedans and SUVs to pickup trucks. Development began in 2001, and Honda publicly revealed the final design in 2004 at the North American International Auto Show.
The first generation of Ridgelines was produced until 2015, and Honda took a brief hiatus before restarting the line in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The second generation used Honda's "global light truck platform," which was also used for the Honda Pilot. This modified platform extended the wheelbase and changed specific parts to make them more functional for off-road use, towing, and hauling.
