The Honda Ridgeline debuted in 2005 for the 2006 model year and is currently Honda's only pickup truck still being manufactured. According to the automaker, Honda used the Ridgeline to target potential customers who wanted to transition from sedans and SUVs to pickup trucks. Development began in 2001, and Honda publicly revealed the final design in 2004 at the North American International Auto Show.

The first generation of Ridgelines was produced until 2015, and Honda took a brief hiatus before restarting the line in 2016 for the 2017 model year. The second generation used Honda's "global light truck platform," which was also used for the Honda Pilot. This modified platform extended the wheelbase and changed specific parts to make them more functional for off-road use, towing, and hauling. Honda stated that approximately 73% of the Ridgeline's second-generation units share similarities with the third-generation Pilot.

Every significant component of the second generation Ridgeline was reportedly designed to be stronger and more structurally sound, according to Honda, who claimed that the Ridgeline's front structure, rear, and 50% of the chassis' components were changed or strengthened. Its new structure reduced its weight by about 78 lbs. compared to the first generation. Honda also reported that it had 28% more torsional rigidity thanks to stronger C-pillars and rear subframes.

Many people consider a used Honda Ridgeline Indianapolis, IN to be extremely practical, though not everyone is a fan of its unique body style. Ridgelines have a unibody chassis, a transverse-mounted engine, and a crew-cab short-box configuration. However, its smooth performance and ample cargo space make it an excellent choice for customers who want a roomy, dependable vehicle. Many Ridgeline owners also report that the truck is capable of lasting nearly 200,000 miles.

2022 Ford RangerConsider the Dashing Ford Ranger®

If the Ridgeline's design is a little too quirky for your tastes, then you may want to give the Ford Ranger® a try. Unlike the larger and more popular Ford truck, the full-size F-150®, the Ranger runs on the smaller side as a mid-size truck and doesn't have quite the horsepower or torque of its siblings.

However, its reduced size means it has slightly better fuel economy, making it a more economical choice if you need towing capabilities but also want to save on trips to the pump. You'll still have plenty of power necessary for towing small boats and campers, so don't worry about sacrificing strength for fuel economy. Make no mistake - the Ranger is Built Ford Tough® just like the rest of its family.

The Ranger provides roughly 310 lb.-ft. of torque and 270 hp with a standard 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine, which is supported by a 10-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. It has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 lbs., meaning it's definitely no slouch in the hauling department.

Trim Levels and Packages

When you select the Ranger as your go-to pickup truck, you'll have a choice from three different trim levels: the base model XL, the XLT, and the Lariat. Each one comes with extra perks to customize your ride as you see fit, such as premium interior options or additional technology and driver-assist systems.

For example, the XLT comes with the Ford Co-Pilot360™ safety package, which consists of BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist, Lane-Keeping System, and more. It also has an available FX4 Off-Road package that gives your truck an electronic-locking rear differential, Terrain Management System™, Trail Control™, and a transfer case.

The Lariat is definitely the swankiest choice, providing buyers with a luxurious leather-wrapped steering wheel, leather upholstery, and heated seats for the driver and front passenger that also provide power lumbar support. You can also spring for the available Technology package that features an Adaptive Cruise Control and Navigation System. Blast your best tunes from an available B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen, which features 675 watts of pure power and ten crystal-clear speakers.
